Migraine — not just a headache.
A severe headache with sensory warnings — flashes, blind spots, tingling, nausea and light/sound sensitivity. Pain can last hours to days. Understanding triggers and early action changes everything.

Common triggers
Hormonal
Estrogen fluctuations in women
Foods & Drinks
Aged cheese, salty/processed foods, additives, alcohol & caffeine
Sleep & Stress
Irregular sleep, sensory overload, anxiety
Physical
Intense exertion, posture, weather changes
Triggers vary person to person — we help you map yours during consultation.
At the first sign — act early
Retreat from usual activities if possible. Small steps can shorten an attack.
Turn off the lights
Retreat to a dark, quiet room. Sleep if you can — light & sound heighten pain.
Temperature therapy
Ice for numbing, hot packs for relaxed neck & scalp. Warm shower helps.
Gentle massage
Light pressure on temples & scalp, neck-shoulder release.
Caffeine — small & early
May help early migraine with analgesics; excess causes rebound headaches.
Sleep Well
- Regular sleep-wake time, even weekends
- Unwind: music, warm bath, light reading
- Bedroom = sleep only; fan for noise, no screens
- Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, nicotine before bed
Exercise Regularly
Movement releases natural pain-blocking chemicals and eases anxiety/depression that worsen migraine. Walking, swimming, cycling are great — start slowly; vigorous effort can trigger attacks.
